<image:caption>Post-Doctoral Fellow Brett obtained a Ph.D. in Virology from the University of Alberta, under the mentorship of Dr. Jim Smiley, where he investigated molecular mechanisms of herpes simplex virus host shutoff. From 2015-2017, Brett was an Associate Research Officer and Project Leader in the Nanobiology Group at the National Institute for Nanotechnology in Edmonton, AB. In the McCormick lab, Brett is investigating studying virus-host interactions and developing new methods to manipulate the viral genomes, both for herpesviruses and coronaviruses.
